You know that feeling of walking out of the audition room and saying to yourself "Oh My God, what did I just do in there?" or "I could've done this or I could've done that!" but you know what? You didn't. And you know why? Because you did the best you could at the time.
You have to leave it in the room. You need to trust that what you did was a good representation of you and your abilities. You need to trust you. You need to be you. And you need to know who you are. If you know who you are, you can let yourself shine in the room, and there's only one you. Everyone else is already taken.
Being you is the best way to approach your audition. But what's even better is being the best version of you and that includes your flaws because that could be the thing that gets you the job. Allow yourself to be vulnerable as that quality is what can make us fall in love with you.
Check out Leah Michelle with her audition for Glee. She did things in the audition room that was completely her and that turned out to be traits of the character she was auditioning for and she didn't know it at the time only for her to land the job! Not only did she have the ability but also the suitability for the role.
You'll also note that she was unapologetic about it. She owned the room and controlled her space. Because it's her time in that room. That was her 15 mins that she got to be Rachel Berry. She got to do her version of Rachel - she owned it. She was confident about it. And that's something that actors need to do more of - be confident in their choices and unapologetic about their performances. And that includes when they leave the room.
There's no point beating yourself up about it as it's already done. It's gone. It's passed.
Remember, you've got the audition - you've already beat out numbers of people by getting the audition.
You've made it past the first cull.
Congratulations! Now get in there, do your thang and walk out proud!
