That's up to the individual to decide.
A casting profile such as Actors Access, Casting Networks, Spotlight, ShowCast, Casting Frontier, etc is specific to casting.
Whereas an actor's website would be a one stop shop for everything that is all about that actor for ALL buyers whether it's casting, directors, producers, actors, reps, etc.
YOU ARE A PRODUCT
Think of your favourite product/ brand. They have a website where it's a one stop shop of everything that's about that brand/product. You, the actor, are a brand/product - so why shouldn't you have a website too?
YOUR WEBSITE
A website can hold extra material like press, reviews and can showcase more materials like a a gallery of on set/ backstage/ red carpet/ publicity photos or host interview footage. You can put whatever you like as long as it's related to marketing you and your range as the product.
Some basic of every actor's website should include:
HOME/ LANDING PAGE - This will establish who you are and what your brand is.
ABOUT/ BIO - This is where you should put your bio. Be short, sharp and specific.
VIDEOS - This is the place to showcase your clip library and your reels. Think about the easiest way to organise and navigate the videos. Think about the fact in western countries, we read left to right, top to bottom, so the most important things should go first.
GALLERY - This is where your headshots, publicity photos, BTS shots, red carpet photos, character shots, etc would go.
PRESS - This is where you can place any press you have whether they're interviews, articles, etc
CONTACT - Make sure at the very least you have your rep's contact details there so your buyers know who your reps are and who they can contact. For those of you freelancing, make sure your details are present.
Please make sure your website is mobile/ cell phone friendly as in most cases, it won't automatically reformat WELL for phone use so it's something that you may have to redesign.
Most websites will offer a free alternative but it does come with some branding or ads specific to that platform. Small price to pay for something that's free. Do upgrade when you're happy with how your site is and if it's doing well as a tool for you.
