MELISSA SMITH
LOCATION SCOUT - BEHIND THE SCENES
Some have called Mel the next Rebel Wilson. Mel says Rebel is the next her, because she's older.
Although slumming it out in IT most days, Mel has played roles in multiple student and festival films, including Charlie's Train and One Small Step (winner of the Robin Anderson Film Award 2013). Mel has worked on a few stage productions from Guys and Dolls to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Mel trained for both stage and screen at NIDA and continuously works on her craft at the Sydney Actors Association and Sydney Actors Collective. Mel has also studied scriptwriting and continues to write scripts that no one should ever read.
Commonly cast as a Doctor or a Mother (because she is old, or maybe because she is a mother, jury's out), Mel has worked in front and behind the camera on both big and small productions in Australia, and is currently working on her latest film script with her 3 year old son, who has much better ideas for plot.
